Frequently Asked Questions
Inviting someone into your home can feel like a big step, particularly when you are already overwhelmed or unsure where to begin. Here are some of the questions people often have before contacting ZING.
My home feels completely out of control. Is it too much for you?
No. You do not need to make your home look better before asking for help, and you never need to apologise for it.
Homes can become difficult to manage for many reasons, including busy lives, illness, caregiving, grief, a move or simply years of postponed decisions. Whatever brought you to this point, we begin with where you are now and focus on how you would like your home to feel.
Do I have to tidy before you come?
Absolutely not. That would rather defeat the purpose!
Seeing your home as it really is helps me understand what is making daily life difficult and what kind of support would be most useful. There is nothing to prepare and nothing to prove. I am simply there to understand your space and help you find a way forward.
Will you make me throw things away?
No. Your belongings and your decisions remain yours. My role is to help you think through your choices, remain focused on your goals and decide what genuinely supports your life now. Sometimes letting go is helpful. At other times, the answer is simply finding a better way to keep and enjoy what matters.
What if I feel embarrassed?
That feeling is far more common than you may realise, but there is no judgement at ZING. I understand how quickly things can become overwhelming and how difficult it can feel to let someone through the door. I will treat you, your home and your belongings with dignity, sensitivity and complete discretion.
Why hire a professional organizer instead of asking family or friends?
Family and friends may care deeply, but organizing together can sometimes become emotional or frustrating. They may also have their own ideas about what you should keep or how your home should look. A professional organizer brings calm, objective and confidential support. I am there to listen, help you make decisions and create solutions that suit the way you live—not anyone else’s idea of a perfect home.
What happens during the first visit?
The first visit is a relaxed conversation and an opportunity for me to understand your home, your concerns and what you hope will feel different. We will look at the areas causing the most difficulty, talk about your priorities and consider a practical way forward. You do not need to have all the answers. Discovering where to begin is part of what I am there to help with.
Can ZING help me if I live outside Barbados?
Yes. ZING offers virtual organizing support to clients in other countries.
Through video calls, I can help you decide where to begin, guide you through sorting and decision-making, suggest practical ways to use your space and help you create systems that suit the way you live. You will do the hands-on work in your home, but you will not have to work everything out alone.
Virtual sessions can be especially helpful if you feel overwhelmed, need encouragement and accountability, or simply want a calm, experienced voice beside you as you take the next step.
How much will it cost?
Every home and project is different, so I’ll give you an estimate based on the support you need. For projects where an in-home assessment would be helpful, I offer a Home Clarity Visit for BDS $100.If you decide to go ahead with ZING, the full $100 is credited towards your project. You’ll know the expected cost before work begins, and we’ll discuss any additional time before going further.
How long will it take?
Every home, project and person is different. The time required will depend on the size of the space, the amount to be sorted and the pace at which you feel comfortable making decisions. After seeing the space and discussing your priorities and budget, I will give you a realistic estimate. We can work in manageable sessions or develop a plan for a larger project.
Do I have to be there while you work?
For sorting and decision-making, I will usually need you to be involved because you know what matters, what you use and how you live. Once those decisions have been made, there may be parts of the organizing work that I can complete independently. We will agree on this together so that you remain comfortable and in control.
What happens to the things I decide not to keep?
We can discuss suitable options for items you are ready to release, including donating, recycling, selling or responsible disposal. I may be able to remove a limited quantity of clean items at the end of a session. If there is a larger volume, we will discuss appropriate collection or waste-removal arrangements before anything leaves your home.
Will our work together remain confidential?
Yes. Your privacy matters. I will not share information about you, your home or our work together without your permission. Photographs will never be used publicly unless you have given clear consent.
Still wondering whether ZING is right for you?
You do not need to know exactly what service you need or how long the work might take. Start with a confidential conversation, and we can decide together whether ZING feels like the right fit. You only have to take the first step. We’ll take the next ones together.
